Unrequited Distance

“Between the passions of cities
and pale towns
lie unrequited distances
empty stretches
of unnamed landscape”      James Griffin

There’s a certain attraction to solitude on the open road, that state of being when one is between places.  The cities and towns you’ve passed through are out of sight and what lies ahead is still beyond the horizon.  Sure there’s the anticipation of getting somewhere, but much of the fun of exploring is found in between your travel points.  Side roads, dirt roads, places that aren’t on the most detailed of maps, await you around every corner.
